User friendly code editor that allows you to work with a large number of programming languages, and integrates debugging and Git support
What's new in Visual Studio Code 1.35.0:
- Updated Visual Studio Code icon - The product logo got a refresh. We hope you like it.
- Go to Definition improvements - Faster navigation through multiple definitions.
- Breadcrumb navigation displayed by default - Quickly go to files and symbols via breadcrumbs.
- Smart selection for JavaScript/TypeScript - Expand text selection based on language semantics.
Visual Studio Code enables you to work on your software projects in a well-structured environment that integrates elementary code editing capabilities.
The Visual Studio Code app provides support for developing Node.js and ASP.NET apps and comes with syntax support for more than 30 programming languages.
Within the Visual Studio Code application, you can choose to open individual files, or you can link the Git repository folder and have access to all related documents. The latter option is preferable because you get to view the project’s structure and monitor all the changes.
Keep track of your working files and use the split editor to extend your workspace
Setting up the Visual Studio Code app does not raise any issues: the editor works right out of the box, and you get to import the source code files via familiar Finder menus.
The file’s content will be visible in the editing section that you can split up to three times. As a result, you can navigate to different portions of the same document in order to make sure your code development is coherent.
Noteworthy is that Visual Studio Code comes with an extensive collection of predefined hotkeys that enable you to edit your project files without having to use a mouse to jump to different areas, or to highlight certain parameters. In addition, the IntelliSense function provides autocomplete options in order to increase your accuracy.

Furthermore, Visual Studio Code integrates a powerful search tool that can apply inclusion and exclusion lists that can prove very useful when working with large files.
Last but not least, Visual Studio Code offers you the possibility to debug the code and monitor the variables behavior, diagnose the exceptions, and so on.
All in all, Visual Studio Code has everything it needs to become a reliable code editing solution. What’s more, you get to personalize the hotkeys to match your own needs, and to change the UI theme to match your desktop’s design.
